Together with the state of Alabama psps organised a Life Sciences trade mission to the UK and Ireland. Below you will find a overview of the activites that we had planned for the delegates. 

Day 1: Official delegation arrival & Happy Hour introductions

During this casual cocktail hour – the delegates briefly introduced themselves and networked amongst each other.

Day 2: Site visit to the NICB & U.S. Embassy Reception

During the second day the delegation went on a field trip to the National Institute for Cellular Biotechnology (NICB), to learn more about the Irish life sciences sector and its various research groups. The NICB  is a leading research institute located on the DCU campus in Dublin. The organisation is a multidisciplinary centre of research in fundamental and applied cellular biotechnology, molecular cell Biology, ocular diseases and biological chemistry. It includes a multidisciplinary team of Cell and Molecular Biologists, Biotechnologists, Chemists and Computer scientists.

In the evening the delegates and local attendees made their way to the U.S. Embassy for a reception, hosted by the U.S Embassy in Dublin.

Day 3: Site visit to the NIBRT & Matchmaking event

On the third day the delegation conducted a site visit to The National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training (NIBRT). NIBRT is a world-class institute that provides training and research solutions for biopharmaceutical manufacturing industry. Their mission is to support the biopharmaceutical industry by providing a unique learning experience for trainees in an environment that replicates the most advanced industrial bioprocessing facility. During the visit the delegation learned about the Irish Life Sciences Sector and what role NIBRT plays in the field.

In the afternoon the delegates and local life sciences companies received the opportunity to meet, greet and exchange ideas during the matchmaking event at the Hilton in Dublin.

Day 5: Matchmaking event in London

On Day 5 of the mission the delegates met up with the UK life sciences sector.

Day 6: Day trip to Cambridge

On sixth day of the mission the delegation departed for Cambridge to visit the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, Babraham Campus and OneNucleus.
